Kokeshi

A study of my kokeshi - a Japanese wooden doll - to practice shading on glossy objects.
 
I'm really attached to this doll since it's a keepsake of a convention about Asian culture. I fell in love when I saw these cuties on one of the booths, so I decided to come and buy one later, before leaving the convention... But when I came back, the seller told me they were all sold out. He must have been sorry to see my disappointment, because he started stubbornly searching everywhere to check if there wasn't one left - while I really didn't want to bother him with that. And after he had made an absolute mess of his booth, he found one, the very last he had. I was so happy! She has a small workmanship defect (her head tilts to the side while it should be straight), but that's what gives her a special look.
